Part II Training

Image: Part II motorcycle trainingA part two lesson will consist of on-road training enabling you to reach the required standard of the Department of Transport Test and beyond. We train pupils on a maximum ratio of two pupils to one instructor.

During a training session the pupil will cover all aspects of safe motorcycling including negotiating roundabouts and dual-carriageways, basic manoeuvres and emergency stops. The pupils will always be in radio communication with a fully qualified and experienced instructor. Your instructor will give guidance and instruction in how to improve your ability as a safe road user. Your progress will be assessed regularly and when you are ready for your test, this will be arranged quickly and efficiently.
The motorcycles we use for training are Honda CB500's, and Honda CG125's.

We also have a specially lowered 500 for those of you who are vertically challenged.

There are three routes to achieving your full motorcycle licence:

  • 125/restricted A license
  • Direct Access
  • Accelerated Access
  • Please note that you must have passed your MOTORCYCLE theory paper before taking your practical test. The CAR theory paper is not the same and does NOT count!!

125/restricted A licence
This license entitles you to ride a motorcycle of up to 33bhp. Engine restrictor kits may be fitted to larger bikes in order that they comply with this regulation. After two years you are entitled to ride any machine and may remove your restrictor kit.

Direct Access
You must be aged at least 21 years in order to take this licence. It entitles you to ride any motorcycle and you are trained on a machine of at least 46bhp.

Accelerated Access
If once you have passed your restricted access test you wish to ride a larger horse-powered machine, you can take this test before your two year period has expired.
