ADVANCED WEEKENDS
To the vast majority of those of us who enjoy fun on two wheels, the phrase 'Advanced Rider' conjures up the image of someone with facial hair and smoking a pipe whilst riding on a BMW. Firstly, put this image from your mind. For example, the present Mrs Nunn has attended several Vision Advanced Weekends and neither smokes a pipe nor rides a BMW....(...and with a combined change of medication and shift pattern at the abattoir, the outlook is promising for the other issue!).
Advanced riding or advanced training, whatever you prefer, is much more than that. As in life, when it comes to riding a motorcycle, some people seem to possess a natural ability and grace that the rest of us (including me) can only dream of.... we have to work at it. Fortunately, us mere mortals can get help from Vision Advanced Training!
Now before we continue, let's be clear on what it isn't! It is not tearing through various local counties, knee down at every corner (for that we have No Limits Track Days!), and it's not schoolroom lecture style 'do's and don'ts'.
It's about you and your needs! You tell your instructors what you want to work on and, by using techniques found in the Police 'Road Craft' Handbook, we guide you through the processes to help you achieve your goals.
For a number of years now, Vision has been running Advanced Weekends and they're proving more popular than ever. If you're not sure who they're aimed at, let me clarify that! They are aimed at EVERYBODY, whether you've been riding for years or just passed your Direct Access, you are all eligible. Your instructors are an enthusiastic bunch, and match your skill levels to your needs and expectations. By the end of the weekend, all the pupils are showing marked improvement and are revelling in their new-found skills.
We ride on some great roads, with various challenges along the way. You will learn amongst other things, about positioning, overtaking, hazard identification, prioritisation and avoidance, all of which are designed to safely test and reward you before arriving at our hotel sporting silly grins. Thereafter, there follows a one-to-one de-brief over a few beers where you and your instructor will discuss your progress throughout the day highlighting any areas for 'fine tuning'. Then, after a good feed and a night of dazzling conversation, followed by a few hot chocolates, it will be time for 'beddie-byes'. The new day features more of the same, where you will be able to put into practise your new found skills and techniques.
By the end of the weekend, you probably won't believe the difference in your riding! You'll be smoother, safer, much more aware and enjoying your riding more than you thought possible. The beauty of the course, and I want to re-emphasise this fact, is that you determine the pace. It's your weekend, it's a lot of fun and you'll get all the help you need or can handle. If after this, you want to come back for more...(and many do!), we can help there too! Don't forget that Vision has it's own Insurance Approved Qualification, which means reduced insurance premiums, by Jingo! What more do you want!!! We can accommodate half day, full day or 2 day (weekend) courses, it's up to you.
